Drug Chemistry
The analysis of controlled substances is the largest department in most forensic laboratories. The testing methods of possible drug evidence varies depending on the type of substance. Presumptive color tests, microscopy, microcrystal test, ultraviolet (UV) and Infrared (IR) Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry (MS), Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Gas Chromatography (GC), Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) are all methods of determining what drug is present, if any.
FoCoSS Forensics can review any case involving these analysis techniques and the opinions obtained from their results.
